The answer to these 2 questions is:

Your body produces an oily substance called sebum, designed to protect and lubricate your skin and hair. It moves along each shaft of hair and out your pores.

But in times of stress and during puberty the sebum outflows

1. with too much force
2. becomes hardened
3. too much sebum and/or hardened sebum blocks the pores

The sheer force of sebum output injures the cells lining the walls of the hair shaft, as if the sebum was a sharp razor, OUCH!

And hard sebum is as if the sebum had mean nails that injure the cells lining the walls of the hair shaft, OUCH!

Lesions to the Living Cells lining the Sebum Canals are caused by those 3 factors and fortunately they can all be properly addressed:

- The shear forces of sebum output can only be addressed wisely by safely inhibiting sebum production, not by impairing it with harsh acne drugs.

- The hardened sebum inside follicles due to depletion of linoleic oil within the sebum glands is easy to solve with the supply of unsaturated fatty acids that liquify sebum directly in the pores where acne may outbreak.

- The mixture of oils with dead cells blocking the pores can be addressed with enzymes that 'digest' or dissolve the plugs in a way similar to howcertain enzymes work when you clean things with detergents.

Now, lets get back to this question:

What is the inflammatory reaction responding too inside the pores?

Our system reacts with an immoderate inflammatory reaction when lesions to our own cells are inflicted, and no matter what causes them.

We already found the answer to what causes injuries to the cells lining the sebum ducts through which sebum outflows to the surface of the skin.

It is not uselles to repeat that here:

Hardened sebum and strong outflow of sebum, in turn caused by hormonal imbalances and stress, injures the cells and soft tissues lining the sebum ducts.

Your immune system reacts immediately to those insults and injuries with inflammation and swelling, or an army of microscopic macrophage soldier cells firing massive chemical weapons to destroy the sebum and unblock the pores.

They even kill some of your own cells... and leave you with those ice-pick holes on your face.

This can only be addressed by supporting our innate immune system at the site of skin lesions and by calming irritated skin.

Bacteria must also be addresed because when pores remain blocked there is no oxygen inside the pores. Then, not only more cells die because of lack of oxygen, but Propionibacterium acnes happily reproduces uncontrolled.

And guess what?
Problem is that as Propionibacterium acnes happily reproduces too much, they create more chemicals that destroy even more of your cells.

Note that Propionibacterium acnes is the scientific name of the bacteria that live in our sebum glands and is designed to be there to help our sebum glands to produce sebum. to lubricate our skin and to fight phatogens that are always thriving to penetrate our body and feed themselves with it.

Our immune system fights uncontrolled bacteria within the hair follicles more efficiently when its repair functions are working swiftly. And this can also be supported with antimicrobial peptides, which unlike antibiotics do not just weaken bacteria, and create resistance from bacteria, as they directly destroy the bacteria.
