Eczema Relief

feet_be_hurtinEczema is usually first diagnosed in childhood and some doctors tell the parents that most likely the child will grow out of this terribly, uncomfortable skin disorder. The truth is for the majority of people their flare-ups become milder with age, but for others the symptoms of eczema haunt them through their adulthood. Whether your eczema is basically under control with the occasional itchy patch or if the fight with eczema has and seems to be forever a part of your life, take heart, there’s hope for eczema relief.

First of all, eczema is different from dermatitis  or regular dry skin in the fact that it starts with an itch caused by a variety of different allergens that leads to irritated skin that causes the skin to itch even more. With constant scratching, the skin becomes even more aggravated and follows with redness, bumps, weeping, oozing and scaling. Prevention is the best relief for eczema and its never ending itch.

The best line of offense in managing eczema is to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. You should apply unscented moisturizer several times a day to keep your skin hydrated. Natural skin care products that contain snail serum have shown great relief for eczema sufferers because they can heal and restore dry, sensitive and irritated skin without the use of cortisone or steroid ingredients that are usually found in many eczema treatments. It not only diminishes symptoms, but also improves the texture and the appearance of the skin.

Another offensive tactic in fighting the irritation of eczema is to avoid triggers that cause your skin to flare-up such as food allergies to eggs, milk products, peanuts, wheat, soy, fish, or tree nuts or sensitive skin to laundry detergents and fabric softeners. Some clothing, like wool, can be especially irritating, however, cotton is the best choice when purchasing clothing. Stress has also been linked to inflamed eczema, so taking an inventory to reduce some of the stress in your life and blocking off a period of time each day to relax can greatly benefit your skin, as well as your total well being.

With these tips, you don’t need to feel helpless against eczema any longer. There is natural eczema relief available.

Strength & Beauty – That’s a Mom Part II

KissesThis is the time of year that we stop and give thanks to the moms in our lives for all that they’ve done for us. As a mom, you take care of so many, and it’s important that you are also taking care of yourself.

BEAUTY

Beauty truly comes from the inside, but for those who are also concerned about their outside appearance, a daily skin regimen is necessary. Here are a few skin tips to let your beauty shine.

Cleanse your face thoroughly Daily cleansing is important in order to rid your face of the grime of the outside world. This is not to say that you have to use a harsh cleanser. Use one that is suitable and gentle on your skin as well as fulfills its cleansing purpose at the same time. You should never sleep with your makeup on. Your skin needs time to repair itself, and it can’t do that with its pores clogged. This final step of the day will prevent eye infections and breakouts.

Always, always use sunscreen Sunscreen is not an option anymore because our skin needs to be protected at all times from the sun’s damaging ultra violet rays. Sun exposure is not only responsible for skin cancer, but it breaks down our skin cells, accelerating the aging process and makes us look older. Our eyes and the skin that surrounds them are very sensitive and to avoid damage, we need to think sunglasses. They should not just be thought of as a summer accessory but a necessity when outdoors to protect our eyes from UV-A and UV-B rays.

Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Whether your skin is oily or dry, all women should use a moisturizer to protect their skin and to keep it soft and supple. Women with oily skin should use an everyday gentle moisturizer that is not oil-based. There are many water-based moisturizers that are light and do a good job of keeping skin smooth and soft. Women with dry skin should opt for oil-based moisturizers or creams. Hydrating all of your skin is important, but special attention should be given to the problem areas of the hands, feet and lips. Exfoliating should also be a part of your weekly beauty regimen to remove dead skin cells that make the skin look tired and dull.

Thanks Mom for making a difference in our world. You do one of life’s toughest jobs and you make it look so easy.

Strength & Beauty – That´s a Mom Part I

857111_beach_fun_3As mother’s day is approaching, we start to think of the wonderful qualities that mothers have and all their sacrifices that they’ve made for us. They have been our protectors and counselors, teachers and guides, inspirations and friends and will continue to do so for as long as we need them.

As a mom, you take care of so many, and it’s important that you also take care of yourself.  Whether you are pregnant with your first child or your children are grown and have their own children, it’s necessary that you consider your health too.

STRENGTH

Exercise The benefits of exercise can be grouped into two categories; mental and physical. Exercise can help you calm down after a hectic day, improve your mood, reduce feelings of anxiety and depression, and when you have a regular exercise routine, you’ll have more confidence and a higher self-esteem. Exercise can fight chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and certain types of cancer. It can also help manage high blood pressure, cholesterol and your weight along with strengthening your heart, lungs, muscles and bones.

Sleep Of course, we all like the idea of a good night’s sleep, but are we really aware of the necessity of it? Sleep not only rejuvenates our energy levels, but actually recharges the different systems of the body. While we sleep, our bodies focus on repairing and building bone, muscle and other needed tissue. If we are lacking in sleep, the immune system becomes weak and causes us not to be as resistant to illness and disease, and we are more prone to developing depression and anxiety. Sleep also helps balance the chemicals in our brain and allows our mind to unwind, regroup and cope with stress. Quality sleep is also linked to a better memory and the ability to process things better.

Balanced Diet Despite what the latest fad diets say, we need a balance of carbohydrates, protein, fat, fiber, vitamins and minerals to sustain a healthy body. It is important that we eat a wide variety of foods – foods that are high in complex carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals low in fat and free of cholesterol. It’s essential that we keep our food portions at a moderate level by limiting our intake of high calorie, sugary, salty and heavily processed foods.

Drinking water is crucial to a healthy diet because it helps flush the toxins and waste from our kidneys and bladder. Most Americans live their life dehydrated. Don’t be one of those statistics, drink 6-8 glasses of water each day to hydrate and flush out your system.

Thanks Mom for all you do. You are a symbol of both strength and beauty.
