Acne Scar Removal: Revealing the Dangers of Chemical Treatments

Acne scar removal with chemical-peelAcne scars are a permanent reminder of the suffering caused by acne, and if you’re like most people, you believe that it’s important to have them removed. However, their removal is often easier said than done. Most often doctors, dermatologists and skin specialists suggest chemical peels for the treatment of acne scars, but is this the best choice?

THE GOOD: Chemical peels can be successful with mild acne scars

For this procedure, acid is applied to the troubled area, which then burns away the top layer of skin until it is able to be peeled off. After the burnt skin is removed, a new layer of smooth skin is seen on the surface. Due to the reduction of most mild scar tissue, it gives a fresher and clearer appearance to the skin.

THE BAD:  Chemical peels leave the skin sore and red

As a rule of thumb, recovery time is dependent on how harsh the chemical peel is administrated; the more severe, the longer the healing time. Even the most shallow of chemical peels will require a nurturing period for the newly exposed skin and often this fresh layer will appear obviously red, crusty, swollen and will be sore to the touch for at least a few days. However, in the case of deeper chemical peels, the application of stronger acids, the recovery time can last three to four weeks. Unfortunately, this process can become rather inconvenient because it is often takes multiply treatments to see the desirable results.

THE UGLY: Chemical peels and their side effects

Please note that irrespective of how successful peels may be, there are a wide variety of side effects associated with these procedures. Many times deeper peels can bring these side effects: unintended color changes in the skin, which is scientifically known as hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation, in addition to lines of demarcation and pigment imperfections that may result in the inability of the new skin to tan.

THE SAFER OPTION: Use a Natural Exfoliation Product

A new, advanced option now exists for treating acne scars, and it is completely natural and safe for everyone. Helix Apersa Muller Glycoconjugates is a natural ingredient produced for the skin of the very snail that secretes it. The serum from these tiny creatures is powerful enough repair its own skin when damaged, and the repair is done in a way that does not leave behind any type of scarring. Because its skin is made of the same structural elements and cells human skin is made up, you can have the same results as it does. The compound kills bacteria and infection and can regenerate its skin and even tentacles and eyes when injured by natural predators. Just imagine what effect it will have on acne scars.

No doctor’s visit is necessary and side effects are non-existent. It is the best acne scar treatment nature has to offer. Your skin is precious and it should not be treated as a science experiment. Exposing your skin to corrosive chemical peels abound with dangerous side effects and is risky business, especially when there are safe, natural options available that successfully remove acne scars.

Prevent Razor Burn

839248_morning_gloryRazor burn looks like a red rash with small bumps or pimples that not only are uncomfortable and burn, they itch like crazy. These razor bumps can affect both men and women and appear because the skin is irritated with the metallic razor scraping itself across the delicate skin layers. Each time you run the blade over your skin, you’re taking a layer of the dermis with it. Prevention is your best bet when fighting razor burn -  an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Razor Burn Prevention Tips

  • Change razor blades frequently. Using a sharp blade will help it glide over the skin instead of getting caught on your skin, causing small cuts. Dull blades are the main factor in razor burn.
  • Soften the hairs that need to be shaved by soaking them for several minutes with warm water. One recommendation is to shave after your bath or shower because the heat and steam soften and open your pores to give a closer shave.
  • Use a moisturizing shaving gel to provide a lubricated barrier between the razor and the area to be shave. By using regular soap, it will not only dry out your skin but increase the chance of skin irritation.
  • Always shave WITH the grain (in the direction of hair growth), using longer strokes and avoid passing the blade over the same area more than once because, remember, each pass shaves off another layer of skin causing further skin aggravation and ingrown hairs.
  • Avoid pressing too hard on the skin and rinse the blade after each stroke.
  • After shaving, rinse your skin with cold water to remove excess shaving gel and to close the pores.
  • Apply a mild moisturizer to soften the skin and reduce the appearance of razor burn. Many people have sensitive skin, so finding the right moisturizer for your skin type is important to avoid skin reactions and to keep your skin hydrated.

If your skin suffers from razor burn, abstain from shaving until the affected area is healed and then use preventative measures for the future. If you want to get rid of razor burn or need a razor burn treatment, try using pure Aloe Vera gel or other natural products that relieve and sooth inflamed skin and reduce swelling and itching. If razor burn persists after using all these precautions, you might want to consider using an electric razor to reduce friction and irritation.

Men’s Skin Care

men's skin care productsEven though men’s skin care products aren’t as advertised as those designed for women, it doesn’t indicate that it is of less importance – men’s skin care should be taken just as seriously. In comparison to women’s skin, men’s skin is about 20% thicker and is usually firmer because it contains higher levels of collagen and elastin. Because of this, fine lines and wrinkles don’t appear as quickly, but there are several factors that will damper this advantage and leave you with damaged skin, looking much older than you want to portray.

What you do everyday will affect every aspect of your body’s health, especially your skin and the way you look. Your exercise routine is just as important as a well balanced diet. Meals with antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables can help fight pre-mature aging. You’ll also want to decrease the consumption of fast food and alcohol, both of which hinder the benefits you’re trying to achieve for your body and skin.

Although to some guys these words sound too feminine: cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliating are all very important for healthy skin. Because men’s skin tends to have larger pores, it’s normally dirtier and oilier, signifying that daily deep cleansing is a must. Men’s skin also suffers from dehydration and needs to be replenished by drinking plenty of water to hydrate from the inside and using a good moisturizer on the outside. Exfoliates and body scrubs help to remove dead skin cells and when used weekly, skin will look smoother and younger.

If you shave daily, you’ll have to pay special attention to your facial skin. Shaving not only eliminates unwanted facial hair but also strips your face of the top layer of skin, leaving it dry and irritated. When shaving, you should always shave hair in the direction that it grows – in a downward motion to avoid razor burn and ingrown hairs. When choosing shaving creams or after-shave lotions, you’ll want to look for products that don’t contain alcohol because they will dry out and irritate your skin even more.

Everyone’s skin is different, so when choosing men’s care products, look for all natural skincare products instead of those made with synthetic and chemical ingredients to avoid allergic reactions. Remember, how gracefully a man ages is mostly determined by how much effort he puts into his daily skin care routine, and as you’ve read here, it doesn’t have to be complicated.
