Cheap Weddings - Is It Possible?
Every woman looks forward to her wedding day. Most of us love the finer things in life, including the big fancy wedding, but we all know that these weddings aren't feasible for everyone. If you really do want to save money and can commit yourself to that goal, cheap weddings are entirely possible. To avoid spending exuberant amounts of money, here are some tips:
Bridal Shops:
They might try to order a size that's too big for you; don't let them. When you try on a wedding dress, you know what size you will wear. But bridal shops will try to talk you into a bigger size, saying that you need to allow for this or that. What happens is you end up shelling out money for a seamstress to take the dress in and make other alterations. Make sure that they order the dress in your size. This is one way to pull off cheap weddings.
Vendors:
No matter what kind of vendor you're dealing with, make sure that you know all of their fees up front. Whether it's the caterer or the band, you want to make sure that they don't end up charging you some sort of fees for nonsense things. Get your agreement in writing, and ask them flat out if there are any hidden fees.
Don't Say Wedding:
A tip: Telling the vendor that this is for a wedding is a surefire way to get the worst, most expensive deals possible. If you just tell them you're having an 'event', this will save you more money-- sounds silly, but it's true.
The word 'wedding' replaces vendors' eyes with dollar signs. Suddenly the prices hike way up, often three or four times the price of an event that has just as many guests as a wedding.
Do get a price quote, but don't be afraid to haggle a bit and see if they'll go lower. Cheap weddings result from following tips like this. But can it really be done? Yes, but you will have to stick to your budget and avoid unnecessary spending like these listed above.
