How To Lose Weight With The Cabbage Soup Lifestyle Weight Loss Diet

Losing weight can be a difficult struggle; subsequently, most overweight people are always looking for fast ways to take weight off. The Cabbage Soup diet plan is familiar to many dieters as a popular "fad diet" that offers a quick way to lose excess weight, but does it truly work? The diet regimen is described here, along with the keys to success for taking weight off permanently.

The Cabbage Soup diet requires, as the name implies, consuming cabbage soup for a seven day period. During this period, dieters only eat cabbage soup and a few other specific foods for weight loss. The diet program is not a lifestyle plan like some other popular diet plans, and requires no long-term lifestyle changes beyond the seven days of the diet regimen.

There are many versions of the cabbage soup recipe. Most contain spices, cabbage and other vegetables, such as onions, celery, bell peppers, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Some dieters enjoy adding spicy flavorings to enhance the taste of the soup. Other dieters concerned with sodium intake want to prepare a reduced-sodium version of the recipe. Many recent versions of the diet include healthy sources of protein, such as protein shakes and tofu to make the diet more balanced.

Besides cabbage soup, there are very specific guidelines for what other foods are permitted on each day of the plan. As a general guide, dieters can eat cabbage soup every day, along with fruit on day one, vegetables on day two, vegetables and fruit on the third day, bananas and skim milk on the fourth day, tomatoes and beef on day five, vegetables and beef on day six, and fruit juice, vegetables, and brown rice on the final day. Dieters then revert to their normal dietary habits, hopefully now weighing a few pounds less.

Is the Cabbage Soup diet truly the answer for fast weight loss? Although no formal scientific study has examined the diet conclusively, people using the Cabbage Soup diet report varying success. For numerous dieters, the program resulted in weight loss (up to ten pounds), but only for a limited time, as the weight gradually returned as the individual returned to normal dietary habits. Some dieters report weakness, lack of focus, and light-headedness while following the Cabbage Soup diet. Other dieters experienced no effects whatsoever, experiencing no illness, but no weight loss either.

The Cabbage Soup diet plan is among several popular diets that dieters can try. Unfortunately, because this diet may not produce results, for many people it just adds to the frustration of not being able to lose weight. A better method of dieting does not rely on fad diets or short-term diet programs. It takes dedicated work and lifestyle changes to maintain healthy weight loss. This means eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise.
