How To Get Rid Of Social Phobias And Build Self Confidence
Self confidence is a psychological and emotional state that responds to somebody's need for peer recognition and self-acceptance. It's one of the oldest and most studied concepts in psychology. It describes a good but however adequate perception of oneself and one's abilities. As such, self-confident persons most often have a better idea of the things they are able to do and will be more likely to succeed in what they attempt. They will also more readily accept and learn from their errors.
By contrast, a lack of confidence can deter you from trusting that your actions or decisions will eventually turn out as you would have liked to. It can hence hinder the improvement of executive skills, planning and management abilities all of which are essential and sought-after things in the current business world. The pre-occupation with how others will judge your work may also make you become extremely self-critical, which is something that can distract you from things you would have otherwise been perfectly capable of doing.
Low self confidence will also affect your social life, as individuals with low self confidence tend to remain in their "comfort zone" and fear the risk of rejection. This is called social phobia and is usually associated with low self confidence, but also other psychological diseases like depression. People with low self confidence are afraid of being judged by their peers and will avoid talking to new people, which can result in isolation and even less self confidence. Low self confidence is a vicious cycle that's hard to break.
On the other hand, because they are able to trust their own aptitudes, self-confident persons are able to do what they feel is right and don't feel the need for the approval of other people. They are also able to inspire confidence: your customers, employees, boss, relatives or friends are more likely to believe in you or in the things you are telling them when you look self-confident.
Numerous experiences can cause low self confidence. Recent research indicates that education has a major effect on the development of the self confidence of children. Bodily and mental abuses during childhood are for example the most damaging to a person's self confidence, as well as family conflicts and divorce. Overprotective parents can also contribute to a child's social phobia and deter the independence required to build self confidence. Failures and successes, for example at school or in one's professional life, also play an important role: losing a job or failing a class are among the numerous experiences that will have a negative impact your self confidence.
It is however possible to overcome these bad experiences and improve confidence. The first step to develop self confidence would be to learn to know who you are and your strengths. Acknowledging the fact that you cannot be perfect and cannot be the best in all that you do will help you gain self confidence. Accepting yourself as you are is the key to building self confidence. But improving self confidence also requires that you start taking risks and giving yourself credit for your accomplishments. This is very basic advice that will help you gain self confidence. You may also find plenty of books that will claim they can help you improve self confidence, but not all of them are reliable.
Many people have low self confidence or are only able to gain self confidence in one or a certain number of areas of their lives because they constantly seek other people's approval and are afraid that they could fail. Many factors, including childhood traumas, can explain why certain people cannot enjoy the wholesome life a self confident individual could have. These individuals also don't always know how to gain self confidence. However improving self confidence can now readily and effectively be done through hypnosis and NLP.
As we have seen low self confidence and social phobia can be caused by traumas or unconscious fears that may be hard to overcome through self persuasion only. Confidence hypnosis and NLP on the contrary are able to get to the unconscious part of our brain and modify belief systems to boost self confidence. They are effective tools that will help you face your fears and believe in yourself to develop self confidence.
Self-Confidence hypnosis has been in use for decades and has shown significant results in building self confidence. In a hypnotized state, getting to unconscious thoughts is much easier and, thanks to hypnotic suggestion, you will be able to replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones to gain self confidence.
