Superfoods: Hunger and Calories Not Allowed
As a youngster, do you remember being persuaded to down those fruits and vegetables for the seemingly lame reason that you won't grow hungry with them? Well, what our parents said back then doesn't seem to be lame after all! Experts say there are two basic types of fruits and vegetables that can be considered "as tough in the stomach" because they satiate your hunger increase your metabolism and yet do not add to your calorie count. The first of these groups are the fiber-group. Protein is the second known super-nutrient group. It's the turn of protein to turn the tables on our biases; more scientists think that protein may help to curb appetite. Protein also contributes to the stamina of the body, and can repair a damaged metabolism rate in the process. Nevertheless, nothing beats studying what protein foods to take, since anything that exceeds what your body needs will necessarily show up on the scale as a gain, instead of a loss.
The following superfoods are hype-free choices that pack a loud punch in your battle against the bulge:
Green Tea - Catechins (helpful phytochemicals) in green tea, according to some scientists, may be some sort of trigger that stimulates the body to force out calories. Think also of the anti-cancer and anti-toxin properties of this life-giving drink. Beef- or Chicken-Broth or tomato-based soup - Soups can help level hunger pangs when nearing meals and add to a fuller tummy. Attractive soups can be spun from whole corn kernels, pumpkin or tomato, among other popular vegetables.
Reducing calories and weight loss - Low-calorie green salads - To get ahead of the temptation to eat a lot at the main course, have a safe low-calorie salad first (which means literally keeping clear of the icing, e.g. croutons, high fat dressings, and cheese). Soon in your main course, you will feel lesser urge to eat much of the viand. Probably the vegetables' high fiber content account for the diner's ability to fight cravings.
Yogurt - If you still can't keep off the nagging (and unfounded) feeling that dairy products will only hamper your efforts to promote weight loss, you may change your mind by trying a light yogurt. It fights off hunger pangs due to its combination of protein and carbohydrate. Bottoms up once more also because yogurt contains "live" bacteria that helps balance intestinal health.
Beans - The secret why beans are one of the members of a superfoods diet is that behind beans are a great combination of fiber and protein; beans also help you feel a fuller stomach.
Water - And how can this article in superfoods miss out on a such a superdrink as water? The advantages of water abound; for nw, it suffices to say that water is efficient at driving out toxins form your body, and that it can help you to stave off hunger through its various forms. True enough, it is on the supermarket shelf that one will see how water can be marketed: as unsweetened tea, as mineral water, as regular water with a citrus additive...
High-Fiber, Whole-Grain Cereals - since time-immemorial, whole grains have always been trusted to help energize the nutritive value of a meal. Not only have these been reputed always to be a complete meal, it also protects the heart's health.
